Karen Thrower, M.D.

Dr. Thrower is a native Floridian, born and raised in the small beach town of Jupiter. She pursued her education at FSU and U of F. As a recipient of the Health Professions Scholarship Program through the Air Force, she traveled to San Antonio for her residency training. Afterward she spent four years on active duty at Fairchild AFB near Spokane Washington. She and her husband Dr. Ben Thrower raised their three children in Washington state, returning to the Southeast in 2001 with a move to Atlanta. Dr. Thrower has been with East Cobb Pediatrics since 2012 and enjoys living in the Roswell area.

Dr. Thrower loves general pediatrics in general, providing a medical home from birth through the college years. She has a special interest in preventative health and total body wellness. She encourages her patients to eat real food, get daily exercise and sun exposure and to minimize technology. She is also the physician contact for the THC registry so she is familiar with how medical marijuana and CBD are used.

Her weekends are often spent at her farm in Athens or spending time with family. She and her husband are BBQ “foodies” and like to try different BBQ places during their travels throughout the Southeast.
