2011 Admin Fees
New vaccine administration codes for children
and adolescents
beginning January 1, 2011
The American Academy of Pediatrics has announced new vaccine
administration codes for children and adolescents through age 18
beginning January 1, 2011. These codes will be used whenever a doctor,
nurse practitioner, or registered nurse answers questions or gives
information and advice about a vaccine.
The Academy understands that parents have questions and concerns
regarding vaccines given to adolescents as well as younger children. For
this reason they have developed new procedure codes to extend counseling
to patients through age 18.
These codes will take into consideration each disease we are
vaccinating against (a component) and will look different from the
vaccine administration codes that we currently use. Some vaccines will
have only 1 administration code for a single vaccine, while combination
vaccines will have multiple administration codes.
The charge for the administration codes are tentatively set at $30
dollars for the first component of a vaccine and $16 for each subsequent
component. These charges may be subject to change.
Please call your customer service department for your
insurance carrier to see if East Cobb Pediatrics & Adolescent
Medicine is listed.
We will gladly file insurance Claims with
your insurance company if we are contracted with your carrier. We request
payments for all co-pays, deductibles and any other services not paid by
your insurance company at the time of the service. We accept cash,
personal check or credit card. The person who brings in the
child/children is responsible for the payment for all services
rendered.
It is imperative that you fully understand your health insurance coverage
because every policy differs.
Please bring the insurance card for your child/children each time you
come to the office.
It is the parents’ responsibility to make sure that a referral is
obtained from our referral coordinator if your insurance plan requires
it. Please alert your provider if your plan requires a referral for a
specialized physician or service. Most insurance plans require
notification at least 72 hours prior to your appointment.
After you see your provider and receive a recommendation for a
specialist, please make sure the specialist is on your insurance plan.
Once you have determined that the specialist is on your insurance plan
and the appointment is made with the specialist, call the referral
coordinator at the location you visited to get a referral.
All medical records are retained at our office for three years from the
date of the last visit. It is your responsibility to request these
records within this time period if you desire to have these records for
future references. A nominal fee is charged to cover the cost of
personnel hired to copy and mail the medical records.
Requests for medical records must be in writing and made at least 5
working days prior to the mail out of these records. Due to
confidentiality, medical records will not be faxed.
