Eric B. Karlen, M.D.
Dr. Karlen received his Medical Degree from Temple University in 1980 after earning a BA degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara and a Master of Education degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Columbia university Teachers College. He is a Board Certified Pediatrician and an active member of the medical staff at Northside Hospital and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Dr. Karlen counseled handicapped children and young adults before entering Medical School. Upon earning his MD he completed an internship and pediatric residency at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, and The University Hospital at Pennsylvania State University from 1980 to 1983.
Before joining East Cobb Pediatrics in 1993, Dr. Karlen practiced pediatrics in Fairfield, Connecticut and held a teaching appointment at Bridgeport Hospital (a Yale University affiliated residency program). His areas of special clinical interest include asthma and respiratory diseases and he has a particular interest in behavioral pediatrics. He is an active member of the Newborn Services Committee at Northside hospital and the Medical Education Committee at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Kids First Pediatric Alliance, a practice association representing over 165 pediatricians in the greater Atlanta area.
Dr. Karlen, his wife, Dee, and their children, Tyler and Ashley live in the East Cobb area.
